These Terms govern your use of the Curio iOS app, website and related services. By creating an account or using Curio, you agree to them.
1. Operator and eligibility
Curio is operated by North Star Strategic Partners LLC. In these Terms, “Curio”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that operator.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Curio. If the law where you live requires you to be older to enter this agreement, you must meet that age. You must be able to form a binding contract and may use the service only where doing so is lawful.
2. Accounts and access
You may register through Google, Apple, or an email one-time code. Give accurate information, keep access to your sign-in method secure, and tell us promptly about unauthorised use.
If you use Apple's Hide My Email and also use Google sign-in, the different addresses create separate Curio accounts. They are not automatically linked.
New accounts may be placed on a waitlist. A waitlisted account is signed in but cannot use most endpoints until admitted. A suspended account is also refused on most endpoints. Access to Curio is not guaranteed.
3. Using Curio
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use Curio for its intended purpose: saving, organising and sharing places; importing places; searching; navigating; and buying or selling Insider Maps.
Curio and its software, design and branding belong to us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer those rights to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law does not allow that restriction.
4. Your content and sharing
You keep ownership of your content. This includes notes, tags, list content, Insider Map titles and descriptions, selected cover images, curated places and seller notes.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format and display your content only as needed to operate Curio and to share it as you direct. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where another user has already saved a shared copy, a buyer must retain access to a sold Insider Map, or law requires us to keep a record. Our Privacy Policy explains deletion in detail.
When you publish or send a share link, anyone who holds the link can view the content available through it. Only share a link with people you want to have access. A recipient may save a copy, including a note and tags attached to a shared place, and may have seen your name at the time of sharing. We cannot recall copies another person already saved.
You promise that you have the rights and permissions needed for content you upload, share or sell.
5. Safety and acceptable use
Curio has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.
You may not use Curio to create, upload, sell, share, link to, encourage or engage in:
harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation;
hate speech or attacks based on protected characteristics;
sexual content, exploitation, or any content that sexualises minors;
illegal content or conduct;
copyright, trademark, privacy or other intellectual-property infringement;
impersonation, fraud or deceptive identity claims;
spam, unauthorised promotion or manipulation;
scraping, automated collection or unauthorised bulk access;
malware, malicious code or interference with the service; or
attempts to bypass authentication, access controls, suspensions, usage controls or rate limits.
Do not post private or sensitive information about another person without permission. Do not use place information to endanger, stalk or target anyone.
6. Reports and enforcement
Report offensive content or an abusive user by emailing support@gocurio.app.
Include the share link or map name, the account or content involved, what happened, and any useful screenshots. Do not send more personal information than needed.
In-app reporting and user-blocking controls are being introduced; they are not currently available. The email route above is the current reporting mechanism.
We review reports promptly. Where a report is upheld, we commit to act within 24 hours. Action may include removing or restricting content and blocking an abusive user from the service by suspending or terminating their account. We may preserve records when needed for safety, legal compliance or a dispute.
7. Insider Map seller terms
To sell an Insider Map, you must be approved as an Insider, be eligible to use Curio, complete payout setup with our payment provider, Stripe, and remain able to receive payouts. Stripe, not Curio, collects the identity and bank details that payout setup requires, and you agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement when you set up payouts.
Prices are in USD and are chosen from the price tiers Curio offers, starting at US$4.99.
Your earnings from each sale are set out in your Creator Agreement with us. For sales on the web, your share is transferred to your payout account through Stripe when the sale completes. For purchases made in the Curio iOS app through Apple's In-App Purchase, your share is paid in a monthly payout after Apple pays us.
You are responsible for your own taxes, filings and obligations arising from sales and payouts.
You must own or have permission to use and sell everything included in the map.
Your listing must accurately describe the access and content offered.
We may remove or pause a listing that breaches these Terms, presents a safety or legal risk, or is connected to a suspended account. A full refund, or a dispute the buyer wins, removes the buyer's access to that map and reverses your share of that sale, including by deducting it from a later payout.
8. Insider Map buyer terms
An Insider Map purchase buys access to a curated digital map. Access is granted when payment succeeds and the digital content is delivered immediately. You do not acquire ownership of the seller's content or a right to redistribute it.
In the Curio iOS app, Insider Maps are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes that payment under its own terms, and refund requests for those purchases go to Apple. A map you buy in the app stays with your Curio account; sign in to restore it on another device.
Maps bought on the web are refunded when a map is broken or materially misrepresented; our Refund Policy explains how. For refund help, email support@gocurio.app. Apple handles refunds of in-app purchases. A full refund, or a chargeback the buyer wins, removes access to the map; a partial refund does not.
Where applicable law gives a withdrawal or cancellation right for digital content, immediate delivery may require your express consent and acknowledgement that the right may be lost once delivery begins. Nothing in these Terms removes a consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived.
9. Third-party services
Curio uses services provided by Google Maps and Google Places, Apple, Stripe and other providers listed in our Privacy Policy. Their services are governed by their own terms and policies. We do not control their availability or independent handling of data. Your use of those features may require you to comply with the relevant provider's terms.
10. Suspension, termination and deletion
You may stop using Curio at any time. You can delete your account from your profile in the app. Deletion is held for 30 days before it completes, and signing in during that period restores the account; our Privacy Policy explains what is erased and what remains. You can also request account deletion without using the app, by emailing support@gocurio.app.
We may limit, suspend or terminate access, remove content, or take a listing off sale if you breach these Terms, create risk or harm, misuse the service, or if action is reasonably needed to comply with law or protect Curio and its users. Where appropriate, we will tell you the reason and allow you to contact support.
Terms that by their nature must continue—such as ownership, payment obligations, retained-content licences, disclaimers, liability limits and dispute terms—survive termination.
11. Disclaimers, liability and indemnity
Service disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, Curio is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, that every place listing is accurate, or that a route or user recommendation is safe or suitable. Use your judgment, follow road rules and official instructions, and do not rely on Curio for emergencies.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer protections that cannot legally be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Curio and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, loss of profits or data, or harm arising from third-party content or services. Any further limit on total liability must be set by the governing law and may not remove rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
This limit does not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that law does not permit us to limit.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify the operator of Curio against third-party claims, losses and reasonable costs caused by your unlawful content, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights. This does not require you to indemnify us for our own misconduct and does not limit non-waivable consumer rights.
12. Changes to the service or Terms
We may change the service and these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will give reasonable notice in the app, by email, or through another appropriate channel before it takes effect, unless an urgent legal or safety reason requires faster action. The date at the top shows the latest version.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in Florida have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Curio, and you and we each consent to that jurisdiction.
Nothing in this section removes a consumer's right to bring a claim or receive protection in a forum that applicable law makes mandatory. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue.
14. General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent. We may transfer it as part of a reorganisation, financing, merger or sale, subject to applicable law. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the agreement between you and us about Curio, except for terms that a third-party service applies directly.
